Frontiers research topic

Recently I became an associate editor for the journal Frontiers In Ecology and Evolution. One of my tasks was to start a research topic on something I am interested in. I decided to start a topic on museomics–a fancy name for genetic studies using museum specimens. There have been a lot of recent advances using old specimens for genomic work in multiple fields (biology, archaeology, paleontology) and I wanted to see if we could compile some of that work in one place. I am proud to have put together a diverse team to tackle this task–Anchalee Aowphol (Kasetsart University, Thailand), Jimmy McGuire (UC Berkeley, USA), Chirasak Sutcharit (Chulalongkorn University, Thailand), Mozes Blom (Museum fur Naturkunde Berlin, Germany), Pamela Soltis (University of Florida, USA). Also thanks to Ewan at Frontiers for your help making the graphic and sending a tweet.

If you are interested in contributing, take a look at the research topic webpage (fro.ntiers.in/museomics), or send me an email (jonfong@ln.edu.hk). Deadline for abstract submission is 31 Dec 2021, while the manuscript submission is 31 March 2022.
